  UCCSRI Chairman signs MoU with German Development Service.

 

On 29th May, 2009, the Chairman UCCSRI and also Chairman, CSR Consultative Group, Mr. David Katamba, signed a renewable Memorandum of Understanding with Mr. Bodo Immunik, Country Director DED in which DED will finance the activities of CSR Consultative Group for Two years

UCCSRI has opened this CSR Uganda blog so as to engage CSR stakeholders in its struggle to shape the CSR practice in Uganda. This blog therefore aims at discussing how we can give CSR a strategic touch in Uganda. Lets us together discuss how we can shape the Uganda CSR agenda so that it can also be seen as a strategic competitive business tool and decision

 

 

 

Past Events:  

2nd Uganda Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Dialogue: 28th January, 2010 at Hotel Africana (8.30am to 6.00pm):  The CSR Consultative Group, UCCSRI, and MUBS invite you to the 2nd Uganda CSR Dialogue. The CSR dialogue is the premier corporate social responsibility event in Uganda. It brings together different Managers, CSR managers, Corporate Affairs managers, CEOs, business decision makers, the media, students, etc. It is also attended by representatives of local and international companies of all sizes. Dialogue objectives were:

  1. To explore the best and possible ways of making CSR a strategic business and development tool in Uganda.
  2. To build, enhance and refresh the business Executives, managers, post graduate / Masters Students and all the participants’ knowledge about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

1st Uganda Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Dialogue (1st July 2009, at Hotel Africana, Kampala Uganda). UCCSRI and The CSR Consultative Group held the 1st Uganda CSR Dialogue at Hotel Africana. The highlights about the 1st CSR Dialogue include:

 

 Objectives of the 1stUganda CSR Dialogue were:

(i)       To actively involve companies in the CSR Consultative Group

(ii)     To determine the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) topics (issues) which are of key interest for the companies operating in Uganda and suggest appropriate ways of

working on them.

 

Background: The CSR Consultative Group looks forward to introduce and discuss its CSR approach (in particular CSR Matrix) with selected companies. Also companies have

the possibilities to exchange CSR success stories and challenges among their peers. As a way forward, the participating companies will be encouraged to work together with the

CSR Consultative Group on one or more CSR topics (issues), which are of key importance to them. Company presentations centered on:

·         How does your company approach CSR?

·         What CSR activities is your company involved in?

·         What are the success stories?

·         What are the challenges your company faces when implementing CSR?

   Re:  CSR Management Training Program schedule

Dear partner/ colleague/ client,

Thanks for your interest in our CSR Management Training Program. This training is supported by Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), International Business Leaders forum (IBLF), and delivered by Uganda Chapter for Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives (UCCSRI) and Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU).

Kindly note that the training is scheduled in four workshops spread over four days between 30th July 2010 and 30th August 2010. The first workshop / training will cover topic one and it will be on 6th Friday, August 2010 (Only topic one is covered in a half day but all other topics are full day trainings at Serena Hotel Kampala). The next topic will be covered on another day (that is after a week, on 13th August 2010) and other topics on 27th August 2010 and last workshop on 4th Sept 2010). The week's time lag we give before the next topic, is to enable us attend to your company and provide it with personalized consultancies needed as regards the covered topic and also to enable you start practicing what you have studied in the previous topic, before the next topic sets in.

The consultancies (which are part of the whole package of $ 2,500) to be given to your company will be independently arranged with you and your company for various days that are conducive from your side. Please note that when your company pays 2,500$, it can bring from one up to four (1-4) participants but these participants should be available to attend all the four workshops,
